About the Collective

The DC Metro Black Construction Collective is a member-driven consortium of Black-owned construction firms, builders, and tradespeople across the DC Metro area.
We are building a strong, connected network to:
  • Advocate for equitable access to contracts and capital
  • Expand capacity through shared resources and training
  • Amplify the impact of Black builders in shaping Washington, DC’s built environment
  • 


Mission & Vision

Mission The DC Black Construction Collective empowers Black-owned construction firms, builders, and tradespeople by advancing access to opportunities, resources, and partnerships. We exist to strengthen our collective voice, build capacity, and ensure equitable participation in shaping the future of Washington, DC’s built environment. Vision We envision a thriving, connected, and sustainable network of Black contractors and trades that leads the industry in excellence, innovation, and community impact. Through unity and advocacy, we see a future where Black builders have equitable access to contracts, capital, and partnerships that transform our city and uplift our communities.

Programs & Services

  • Opportunity Pipeline – Bid alerts, matchmaking with primes and agencies, and deal flow visibility.
  • Training & Workshops – Bonding, CBE certification support, safety, estimating, compliance, and more.
  • Capital & Finance Connections – Introductions to lenders, working capital solutions, and financial coaching.
  • Advocacy & Policy – Collective voice on procurement, inclusion, and equitable development.

Founding Members
Our founding members are the visionaries who established the Collective. They set the foundation for our mission and guide the organization’s growth.
General Members
For Black-owned contractors, builders, and trades firms across the DC Metro area. General Members are the backbone of the Collective, working together to expand opportunities and strengthen capacity. Benefits include:Training, workshops, and capacity-building programs, Member directory listing and networking, Collective advocacy on contracting and policy issues.
Affiliate Members
For agencies, developers, lenders, and ecosystem allies committed to advancing equity in construction. Affiliate Members support the mission and collaborate with the Collective to expand opportunities for Black-owned firms. Benefits include: Partnership and sponsorship opportunities, Visibility at events and programs, Collaboration on DEIA and supplier diversity initiatives, Access to member engagement and impact reporting.
